How do I register for the Update Service?

You can register for the DBS Update Service here: https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service. There are two ways you can register and these are explained below.

Before you get your certificate:

You can register as soon as you have your DBS tracking number. This is the E-number that you receive when your DBS application is at status 14. You can use your DBS tracking number to register your certificate with the Update Service before you even receive your certificate. 

Use the following link https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service and if you are using your E-number (DBS tracking number) this is the field you need to enter it in. 

After you get your certificate:

You can register after you have received your DBS certificate. At this point you will use your DBS certificate number to register for the Update Service. When using the Update Service register form, make sure you click "use my certificate number" instead. This will update the field to allow you to enter the DBS certificate number. 

IMPORTANT! You only have 28 days from the certificate date. Make sure you register for the Update Service as soon as you get either your DBS tracking number, or your DBS certificate. Failure to do so within 28 days means you cannot register your certificate with the DBS Update Service. 

You will then need to go to llama.id and consent to the update service
