Summary
The most errors on a DBS application are related to address history entries. The DBS requires you to enter 5 years address history. llama.id will ensure that you enter the correct length of address history before you can continue with your DBS application.
It is also important that when providing proof of address that these match your current address you have entered. We cannot accept proof of address from another previous address.
If you have missed an address from your history
If you have missed an address from your DBS address history, you can still add new addresses. You can either click edit, to update the address to a new address or click add new address, to input an address within your existing address history.
- Click edit on the address you want to update.
- Click add new address within your address history. Once you have added your new address it will update the address history.
Tips on how to complete your address history
Unauthorised characters
- The DBS does not accept commas or full stops in addresses. llama.id will ensure these aren't submitted, but if you are notified to update a field in your address history, this is because you have put one of the following characters and need to be removed from the application:
- Commas
- Full stops
- Exclamation marks
- Dashes
- Hyphens
Non-UK postcodes
- If you have lived abroad please ensure that you enter the postcode with no spaces
- Non-UK postcodes should be submitted in the following formats 57686 or 94859696
- If you did not have a postcode please enter 00000
Chronological order
- It is important to put your address history in chronological order
- This is how the DBS service wants address history to be submitted
- llama.id will ensure that you cannot make mistakes with the address move in and move out dates. We ensure that the system supports you through this process.
If you have made lots of mistakes and want to start again
- If you have made significant mistakes on your address history you can start again
- If you click 'reset address history' it resets your address entries
- This allows you to start the address history again
- This resolves any frustrations of being caught in a loop
